“Selma really helped her client, and she got an interpreter for her to assist during coaching sessions. She was able to communicate with the client and help her get out of a domestic violence situation. The client is doing really well now."

“Wonderful. The workshop on life balance was eye opening. It helped me understand what I needed to work on to feel more fulfilled at work and at home."

"As an English language development teacher of children and adults I find "Adjusting to Life in the USA" an invaluable resource for both immigrants learning about the United States and English teachers of adults. The careful and comprehensive compilation of valuable information paired alongside the raw and personal experiences of the author make the reader feel seen and understood during the tumultuous time of resettlement within the U.S. Additionally, English teachers of adults will find use this book as their go-to resource for assisting their students as they adjust to life in American culture. Readers are encouraged to proactively learn about this new culture, while finding meaningful ways to remain true to their native identity. I highly recommend This thoughtful compilation of stories and resources to anyone with a desire to know more about American life, students and teachers alike."

"I wish I had Selma's book when I first arrived in the U.S.—it would have eased my loneliness and answered so many questions I didn’t know how to ask. It covers countless topics that a newcomer to the US might have come up, offering guidance on how to navigate them. My husband also found it incredibly helpful in understanding me—my ways of communicating and doing things. I especially loved how the author emphasizes adapting to a new country while staying true to your roots. A must-read for anyone starting their journey here."

"I have worked with Selma as my life coach during a time in my life that I had gained immense weight. Eating had become my new therapy. My self esteem and confidence were gone. Selma did not give up on me. We met for a series of 6 sessions through which I was taught to take back control of my life. I did not do any diating. Selma introduced me to minful eating. I started journaling what I ate, when I ate my food, and any emotions and feeling when eating food. I was able to identify negative emotions that led me to bad eating habits. With patience and commitmet I was able to move from BMI of 29 which is overwight to a healthy BMI of 24.5. My biggest lesson was learning to identify emotions, being kind to myself and taking responsibility.
I would proudly recommend Selma to anyone feeling a sense of loss of self control. Selma is a great communicator and knows how to ask the right questions that prompt you to think."
