I immigrated to the United States at age 14 and experienced firsthand the challenges of adapting to a new culture, language, and way of life. Drawing from my background in nonprofit leadership, coaching, and education, I wrote and taught a book-based course on American culture to help newcomers build confidence, understanding, and practical skills for life in the U.S. I believe a new culture is best taught by those who once had to learn it themselves. As an immigrant, I understand the unspoken rules, challenges, and cultural nuances that newcomers face because I lived them. This lived experience allows me to teach what can’t always be seen or found in textbooks, helping students gain real-world understanding and confidence in navigating American culture. I founded Aspire USA Coaching and wrote Adjusting to Life in the USA, to help newcomers, long-time residents, and anyone adjusting to a new culture in the U.S. gain the knowledge and support needed to succeed. After all, belonging is built one step at the time.
